School and Library Visits

Lakeside School Students spring 2010 School Visit
I can be yours for the day! My presentations are fun and motivational. I am passionate about encouraging writer’s of all ages. My mission is to help them discover their own creative minds. Students will be thrilled to find out just how many stories they have inside them.
I use props and power-point in my presentations.
I briefly introduce things I’ve written. I discuss how I became a writer and editor and the stories that have influenced me. I share my early attempts at writing sometimes comparing a first draft paragraph with the final draft I discuss how a story and characters are created.
I allow time for questions at the end. Students will benefit most if they have been introduced to (or read) my work.

Creative FunShops (8 to 120 participants)
For Creative Writing I run FunShops designed to promote creative ideas through innovative exercises and exploratory games. This is a also a great workshop for teachers and business leaders who can then use the techniques in their own teaching/working environments.
I will customize a presentation for any group of students, adults, or educators, depending on your goals.
A full-day school visit typically includes 2 presentations of about 45 minutes each, plus a one hour Creative Writing Fun-Shop.
For the fall of 2010 and spring 2011 school year, my standard honorarium is $675.00 plus travel expenses if you are located along way from Orange County California. It is also possible for two schools to share a day (two presentations each) to make the costs more affordable. Half-day presentations work very well if you can find another school close by to “buddy up” with. Multiple day visits are possible.
Libraries: $150 for a one hour author presentation
ABOUT BOOK SALES & SIGNINGS
Selling books is an important part of an author’s visit. It is a positive and motivational experience for children to have their own autographed copies. There is no minimum number of books to sell. I will be happy to supply a sample book order form and I ask that each host school:
1) make books available for advance purchase by students and faculty.
2) have extra books on site for day-of sales.
